Commemorative medallions

Every competitor who successfully completes the event will receive a commemorative Blackwood Relay medallion at the finish line. This applies to all participants regardless of category. Medallions are exchanged for your digital timing fob - please ensure you return yours to marshals at the finish arch.

Competitors called to the podium for a category placing will also receive a Blackwood Relay medal on a dated lanyard.

Trophies

  • The Five-Leg Relay Perpetual Trophy is presented to the outright Five-Leg team winner and held in trust by the Rotary Club of Bridgetown.

  • A Triathlon Perpetual Trophy may be introduced in 2026.

  • Smaller keepsake trophies may be awarded to category winners at the committee’s discretion.

Cash and material prizes

The prize pool is determined by the committee and is based on up to 10% of net revenue from competitor entry fees. Sponsors may also contribute prizes at their discretion.

Teams

  • The first-placed team in every category will be named at the awards ceremony.

  • A cash or material prize is awarded to first place where there are 4 or more teams entered in that category.

  • Where there are fewer than 4 teams in a category, a material prize (such as wine or cider) may be awarded at the committee’s discretion — no cash prize applies.

  • A second place cash or material prize and Relay Medal is awarded where there are 10 or more teams in that category.

  • A third place cash or material prize and Relay Medal is awarded where there are 20 or more teams in that category.

  • Prize values for Five-Leg teams are greater than for Three-Leg teams, reflecting the additional effort of five legs including the equestrian.

  • Category entries cannot be changed once the event has commenced.

Solo competitors (Iron Person and Triathlon)

In recognition of the exceptional effort of solo competitors:

  • First place in every solo category receives a cash prize.

  • Second place is awarded where there are more than 3 entered in that category.

  • Third place is awarded where there are more than 10 entered in that category.

  • Prize values are greater for Iron Person (Five-Leg) solo competitors than for Triathlon (Three-Leg) solo competitors.
